Calvary United Methodist Church, Mohnton, actively engages with several local ministries to serve and uplift the community. Here’s an overview of our involvement:
Mifflin Community Food Ministry
Calvary UMC partners with the Mifflin Community Food Ministry to provide essential food items to individuals and families facing food insecurity in the Mifflin area. Through regular food drives and volunteer support, we aim to alleviate hunger and demonstrate Christ’s love to our neighbors.
Safe Berks
Our church collaborates with Safe Berks, an organization dedicated to supporting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Periodically, Calvary members & friends prepare, deliver, and serve a dinner meal for current clients of Safe Berks. Additionally, children’s activities are planned and led by Calvary members.
In It to Gather for Seniors
Recognizing the importance of community among seniors, Calvary UMC plans and hosts the “In It to Gather for Seniors” program. This initiative offers social gatherings, educational speakers, and support networks to enrich the lives of mature adults within our congregation and in the Mohnton area.
Community Vacation Bible School
Each summer, our church organizes a Community Vacation Bible School (VBS) that welcomes children from all backgrounds. Through engaging lessons, crafts, music, and games, VBS provides a fun and educational environment where children can learn about faith and build lasting friendships.
Mohnton Golden Agers
Along with St. John Lutheran and Zion E.C. churches, Calvary UMC is proud to participate in and support the Mohnton Golden Agers, a group dedicated to fostering fellowship and activity among mature persons in our community. The group meets twice monthly at Zion E.C. church (57 N. Church St., Mohnton), with the pastors providing a devotional message.
Not by Choice (Widow/Widower) Lunches
Understanding the unique challenges faced by widows and widowers, our church hosts the “Not by Choice” lunch program. These gatherings offer a supportive environment for individuals to share experiences, find companionship, and receive emotional and spiritual support during difficult times.
